A pre-installation review reduces commissioning delays by resolving sampling, utilities, access, integration and consumable questions before the analyser arrives. Use this checklist as a discussion structure, then apply the current installation instructions for the exact 3S configuration.

1. Measurement and method

  • Parameter and exact reporting basis
  • Normal range, expected low/high conditions and short peaks
  • Required analysis frequency and operational purpose
  • Relevant comparison laboratory or site method
  • Known sample interferences or process chemicals

2. Sampling point

  • Reason the point represents the process decision
  • Sample pressure, available flow and temperature
  • Solids, colour and variability
  • Distance, transport delay, dead legs and flushing
  • Behaviour during shutdown, cleaning or loss of flow

3. Sample conditioning and waste

Confirm whether the application needs a fast loop, reservoir, pressure reduction, cooling, settling, dilution or filtration. Check that conditioning does not remove the fraction the method is intended to measure. The 3S-CL specification describes sample delivery to a reservoir at atmospheric pressure, with up to 500 mL/min flowing to overflow and 6 mm outside-diameter flexible tubing. See the detailed sample-conditioning guide.

  • Safe and continuously available drain route
  • Access to inspect and clean reservoirs, filters and tubing
  • Containment and disposal route for sample, reagents and calibration waste
  • Compressed air and 1-inch NPT process connections if a selected 3S self-cleaning filtration unit requires them

4. Location and environment

  • Vertical wall or rack mounting with suitable fixing structure
  • Space for the 680 × 380 × 242 mm 3S-CL cabinet and service access
  • Approximate 20 kg analyser weight allowed for in the mounting design
  • Ambient and sample conditions within the stated 5–45°C range
  • Humidity within the stated maximum 85% RH
  • IP54 cabinet suitability for the proposed environment
  • Protection from direct heat, freezing, flooding, corrosive atmosphere and avoidable vibration

5. Power and communications

  • 110–230 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 80 VA supply, or confirmed optional 24 VDC configuration
  • Isolation and electrical work suitable for the site
  • Two 4–20 mA outputs, Modbus RTU RS485 / Ethernet and relay requirements mapped to the control system
  • Signal scaling, alarm logic, network addressing and responsibility for integration agreed before commissioning

6. Reagents, standards and consumables

  • Correct method-specific reagent set and calibration standard available
  • Storage conditions and shelf-life controls agreed
  • Safe lifting, handling and chemical controls in place
  • Bottle positions, tubing routes and containment accessible
  • Initial stock and reorder process agreed

7. Commissioning and acceptance

  • Named site contact and safe access arranged
  • Sample available under representative operating conditions
  • Control-system engineer available where integration is in scope
  • Acceptance units and comparison method agreed
  • Operator familiarisation, maintenance responsibility and support route agreed
  • Final configuration, calibration and commissioning records retained

What to send before a site review

Provide a process description, sample analysis, expected range, photographs or layout drawing, utility details, proposed mounting location, drain route and integration requirements. Early visibility of constraints is usually more valuable than a generic instrument schedule.
